Boston Rugby Club completed their season by lifting the Notts, Lincs and Derbyshire Plate... beating Buxton 41-0.
Although the Blue and Whites were without several first teamers for the contest, played at Matlock, Marc Miles was declared fit to play following a back injury and Dave Cotton-Betteridge returned to the side.
Buxton exerted pressure in the opening 20 minutes, but Willem Jonker’s side weathered the storm before going on to dominate the contest.
Jake Brooks crossed the line and Tom Andrews converted to hand Boston a 25th-minute lead.
Michael Baldwin scored a try five minutes later, with Andrews converting yet again.
Alex Kemp received a yellow card for an infringement in the first half, but on his return to the field he seemed to be in inspired form.
Following the interval, Boston extended their lead to 19-0 with Kemp appearing to get the final touch.
Kemp went on to complete his hat-trick with Will Sharpe and Mark Hodgson also getting on the scoresheet.
Andrews kicked a further conversion to help the tally to 41 points.
Both sides made their own contribution to a good final, but Boston’s scrum advantage and good defensive play made a telling difference to the outcome.
