Three late tries saw Boston Rugby Club’s Colts beaten 34-12 by Newark at the Boardsides on Sunday.

Boston began well and a flowing move sent Olli Balsom clear to score in the corner before Matt Bray converted into the heavy rain.

Tom Andrews almost added to the lead, but the ball became trapped in the mud and the away side managed to clear their lines.

The big Newark side then turned the screw and lead 19-7 before the flowing hands worked their magic and Fabian Gillick reduced the arrears with an unconverted try.

After the break Tom Andrews and Ayo Adenaike linked well but were denied by last-gasp tackles.

As the Newark pack continued to wear down the Boston defence they scored three unconverted tries.

Jack Power was the man of the match.
