Willem Jonker believes Boston Rugby Club has enough talent to be challenging at the top of the Midlands 3 East (North).
As the Blue and Whites prepare to begin the second part of their season by entertaining Amber Valley on Saturday (KO 2.15pm), coach Jonker has been reflecting on a season which has already seen Boston beat title challenging Kesteven 17-0 as well as becoming the only team to take points from leaders Melton Mowbray following a 10-10 draw.
“We’ve only been able to put our best team on the pitch twice this season,” the South African said.
“But when we have done we have had very good results.
“I believe that our squad is good enough to win this division if we can be consistent.”
Jonker is now aiming to build upon this season’s top results, not only for the rest of the campaign, but also going into next season.
“We are still looking to consolidate our place in this division,” he added.
“But we are continuing to build the squad, and we have a lot of good young players coming through.
“We want to be in the top four next season and take it from there.”
Former Boston Rugby Club player Paul Jarvis had a moment to savour on Sunday - scoring a try live on TV.
He touched down for Doncaster Knights in their Championship clash on Sky Sports against Rotherham Titans, despite his team narrowly losing 23-21.
