Boston Rugby Club’s patched-up side went down 19-0 at Southwell on Saturday.

As a result of injuries and unavailability, the Blue and Whites were forced to look to their promising youth players in this Midlands 3 East (North) fixture.

Given the huge turnaround in personnel, the assembled players put in a creditable performance.

Despite having a high percentage of the possession, Boston struggled to provide any cutting edge in the backs.

And after conceding a try against the run of play just before half time, Willem Jonker’s side entered the interval 5-0 down.

A couple of quick tries after the interval, both converted, sealed Boston’s fate.

Next week, Boston travel to play Northampton Casuals in the Midlands Cup.

BOSTON: Kemp, Dowse, Denman, Eldin, Sharpe, Johnson, Stokes, Hughes, Jonker, T. Brooks, Cotton Betteridge, J. Brooks, Smith, Cook, Andrews; Replacements: Sargent, Deamer.

Boston’s Development side lost to Spalding Seconds on Saturday.
