Boston Rugby Club were named Team of the Year at the Boston Standard Sports Awards
It was a case of try and succeed for the Blue and Whites, who can now proudly show off their trophy after previously being runners-up in the category.
“It has been a lot of hard work. We have had our ups and downs but the spirit was amazing,” said head coach Willem Jonker, who also praised the ‘great atmosphere’ at the club.
The Boardsides club took the award after winning the Midlands 4 title by 11 clear points, despite beginning last season with a 12-point deduction.
“When you start winning and making that a habit that’s a good thing,” Jonker added.
Running the rugby club a close second was the Boston Saturday Football League committee.
A small but dedicated team have made areal success of the competition, turning it into the county’s largest senior league.
Their work with the RESPECT campaign also saw the Football Association present them with a Silver Award, mking them one of the top eight leagues in the country.
