The corks popped and champagne flowed as Boston Rugby Club’s invincibles celebrated their Midlands 4 East (North) title.
The Blue and Whites thumped Keyworth 106-0 at the Boardsides on Saturday to finish their season in style.
Willem Jonker’s side ended the campaign unbeaten, with 21 wins and one draw to their name.
“I told the lads after the match that it was an emotional day for me as I’ve never gone a whole season unbeaten before,” said Jonker.
The South African has now led Boston to back-to-back promotions in his first two seasons at the Princess Royal Sports Arena.
But as the club secured their historic campaign in front of a bumper crowd of more than 200 fans, Jonker was quick to state the success was a team effort.
He added: “It’s a season where everything just clicked, On the pitch, and also with everybody involved with the club.
“We had a team picture before the match and in the picture were players who weren’t picked this week.
“But they all played their part. It was a victory for the whole squad.”
