Boston Rugby Club travel to Long Eaton on Saturday, knowing victory will see them win promotion from the Midlands 4 East (North).
The unbeaten Blue and Whites currently sit nine points ahead of second-placed Worksop.
And a win over Long Eaton, curently in third, will make it impossible for their opponents to catch them in the standings, with just two matches left.
The win would see Willem Jonker’s side earn back-to-back promotions in his first two seasons at the Boardsides.
But promotion would be even more remarkable due to the fact Boston began the season with a 12-point deduction after failing to finish their final match of last season at Ollerton.
Boston sit top the table due to a superb season which has seen them – despite a number of long-term injuries – yet to lose a league match.
They have won 18 of their 19 matches to date, drawing at Ashfield.
South African Jonker says the camp are determined the finish the campaign without defeat.
He told The Standard: “We’ve come this far, so we want to go all the way.”
“It would be a brilliant achievement if we could do it.”
“I can’t remember many times I’ve played with or managed a team that has finished the season unbeaten.
The top two sides at the end of the season will gain promotion to Midlands 3..
