BOSTON Rugby Club have appointed South African Willem Jonker as their new player-coach in the build-up to the new season.
And the club have snapped up a coach with promotion pedigree.
Jonker has played and coached professionally in his native South Africa for more than 10 years.
After arriving in England, Jonker turned out for Rugby Lions at Division Two level.
The scrum half then took over as player-coach at Peterborough, where he guided the side to three promotions in as many years, finishing at Midlands One level.
Jonker will not be the first overseas coach to take charge of the Blue and Whites, after New Zealander Ray Hayward spent two years with the club.
Boston have also added a schools’ coach to their staff.
Sean Hughes - who came up through the Saracens’ mini, junior and colts sides, will also play for the club this season.
