Boston Rugby Club are one victory away from securing back-to-back promotions.
The Blue and Whites recorded a 20-0 win against Cleethorpes at the Boardsides on Saturday.
And after picking up the bonus point for scoring four tries - coupled with rivals Worksop and Skegness both losing at the weekend - they have opened up a nine-point gap at the top of the Midlands 4 East (North).
“I’m relieved to be where we are at the moment,” said coach Willem Jonker, whose side began the campaign with a 12-point deduction after failing to finish their final match of last season at Ollerton.
“At the beginning of the season I said that if we lost twice we would still get promoted.
“But now we’ve worked hard to get into a position where - if we win one more match - we will get promoted.”
Boston may be unbeaten after 19 matches (18 wins and one draw) but Jonker says his side cannot rest on their laurels as they travel to face third-placed Long Eaton on March 23, followed by a home clash with second-placed Worksop.
He added: “It won’t be easy, but if we do the right things then we can win the match.”
Boston Rugby Club will host an open day and training session for junior boys and girls (12-17) on Sunday at the Princess Royal Sports Arena (10am-noon).
