A superb 125-run partnership between Zeeshan Saeed and Ashok Kumar led Freiston, Leake and Leverton to a five-wicket victory over Woodhall in the Cojo’s East Lindsey League.
After electing to bowl first, Freiston started in fine fashion as Ollie Booth had Matthew Sargeant well caught by Rob Sexton without scoring.
Ben O’Brien and Wells added 29 for the second wicket before Wells was caught and bowled by the impressive Taimur Mian.
O’Brien looked in great form, but Freiston were able to take wickets at the other end. John Goodfellow bowled Richardson before a fine diving catch from Graham Kirtley saw Tom Cushen dismissed for a duck.
Ashok Kumar deceived Jack Hughes to have him stumped by Saeed before O’Brien brought up his 50.
Four wickets for skipper Richard Paul meant wickets continued to fall, but Freiston had no answer as O’Brien finished on 121 not out as Woodhall were out for 182.
Woodhall then started impressively with the ball, with Richardson taking three early wickets. When Paul went for eight, Freiston were struggling at 51-4.
However, Kumar joined Saeed at the crease. Both batsmen batted in characteristically aggressive style, playing a number of extravagant shots.
The Woodhall spinners had no answer to the pair and it took a sublime catch from Jack Hughes to break the partnership, with Kumar the man out for a fine 39.
Saeed saw Freiston home in the 30th over, the opener ending on a wonderful 85 as Freiston secured a memorable victory with 184-5.
