An aggressive century from Zeeshan Saeed was the highlight as Freiston overpowered Grantham to maintain their 100 per cent record in Division One of the South Lincs and Border League.

Saeed made exactly 100 as Freiston amassed 286-7 from their allotted overs.

After losing captain Richard Paul for just seven, Waseem Ilyas (20) and Abdul Moeed (36) set a solid platform for the visitors before they were both caught by Corby off the bowling of home skipper Wing.

Saeed then took full advantage, playing in an ultra-aggressive manner, he smashed his first three deliveries to the boundary.

Saeed received good support from Connor Goodfellow, who made a mature 40.

But Saeed was the star of the show, his century including 13 fours and four sixes.

Ollie Booth finished with a flourish, making an unbeaten 43, as Freiston claimed maximum batting points.

With the ball, Freiston weren’t at their best, but they did take wickets at relatively regular intervals. Ollie Booth and Tommy Atkinson both claimed a wicket in their opening spells.

Zeeshan Hassan picked up his first two league scalps as he bowled with good pace and accuracy.

Ashok Kumar also took two wickets, including opener Everett for 40. Grantham were never in the hunt to chase down Freiston’s total, so the game turned into a battle to take as many bonus points as possible.

Freiston looked on course to claim maximum bowling points by dismissing the hosts, but Grantham showed good application as Abbott made 20, before being trapped lbw by John Goodfellow.

Freiston had a number of chances to take further wickets, but dropped catches stalled their progress.

Grantham went on to make 175-7, falling 111 runs short of Freiston’s total, with Wing making an unbeaten 42.
