ALMOST 150 children from local primary schools attended a multi-skill event at the Princess Royal Sports Arena.

The event was run by the Boston and District Schools Sports Partnership and was open to primary schools in the Thomas Cowley and Haven High cluster, which are schools that work together.

Year one and two children (ages 5/6) from Donington, Boston West, Gosberton Community, Gosberton Clough and Risegate and Quadring experienced a number of activities testing their agility, balance and co-ordination.

Children were able to collect stickers as they tried their hand at many activities including the magic well, body balances and hop scotch.

Matthew Haslam, partnership development manager, said: “Providing sporting opportunities at an early age helps to fire a lifelong enthusiasm in sport and physical recreation.

“Often this is the first time a pupil has experienced sport in a different setting to their school, it is obvious to see the children had a terrific time along with learning new skills.”

Sports competitions that are coming up in the future for all primary schools to join in and attend are:

Hockey development day – Tuesday, February 15; Basketball development day – Tuesday, March 15; Primary dance festival – Thursday, March 17.

All schools are invited to attend and further details can be found on the school sport website www.lssc.co.uk or alternatively by ringing Matthew Haslam on 01205 725424.
