Isaac’s seven wins dwarfs the opposition

BOSTON Swimming Club’s youngsters claimed 19 first places at the Meres Leisure Centre.

Competing in a joint Grantham and Lincoln Vulcans open meet, this was assistant coach Brendan Clark’s first open meet in charge.

Isaac Reed (nine) won seven races, the 50m breaststroke/butterfly/freestyle, 100m individual medley and the 200m backstroke/freestyle/individual medley.

He also came second in the 50m backstroke and third in the 200m breaststroke.

Elder brother Joe Reed (11) finished second in the 50m and 200m breaststroke and was third in the 200m backstroke, recording four personal best times.

Jason Barnes (13) produced six PBs and won medals in all eight of his races.

He won the 50m backstroke, claimed six-second place finishes in the 50m/100m freestyle, 100m backstroke, 100m individual medley, 200m backstroke and freestyle and was third in the 200m individual medley.

Ose Ikhena (16) won all four of the 50m events, also coming first in the 100m breaststroke and second in the 100m freestyle.

Oliver Street (15) came first in both the 50m and 100m butterfly, second in the 50m backstroke and freestyle and third in the 100m/200m freestyle and 100m individual medley.

Other boys to take home medals were William Pettitt (nine) with second-place finishes in the 50m butterfly, 200m freestyle and individual medley, Myles Beagles who was (10) second in the 100m individual medley, 200m backstroke and freestyle and third in the 50m backstroke and freestyle and Gwion Joyce (11) with a third in the 200m breaststroke.

For the girls, Becky Pimlott won the 50m backstroke and freestyle, 100m individual medley and 200m backstroke and also finished second in the 100m breaststroke and 200m individual medley.

Support for Becky came from the Hutching sisters of Holly (13) and Beth (14). Both matched each other’s results by finishing second in their respective age categories in the 50m backstroke and third in the 200m individual medley.

Kieva Clegg’s (10) improvement continues as she was the only swimmer to record PBs in all seven of her races, which enabled her to finish third in the 50m breaststroke.

First places: Jason Barnes, Ose Ikhena (five), Becky Pimlott (four), Isaac Reed (seven), Oliver Street (two). Second places: Jason Barnes (six), Myles Beagles (three), Beth Hutchings, Holly Hutchings, Ose Ikhena, William Pettitt (three), Becky Pimlott (two), Isaac Reed, Joe Reed (two), Oliver Street (two).
