A real team effort secured an important victory for Freiston, Leake and Leverton away at Welby in the South Lincs and Border League Division Two on Saturday.
After winning the toss, captain Rob Sexton had no hesitation in bowling first - his decision vindicated as Welby were dismissed for 118.
Openers Ollie Booth and Tommy Atkinson reduced Welby to 21-3, before Martin Hodgson bowled Meadows and Richard Paul had Mylers athletically caught by wicket keeper Zeeshan Saeed.
Paul also had Dodd caught by Naveen Joachim before dismissing top scorer Bottomley, caught by Michael Burman.
Hodgson picked up his second wicket thanks to a good catch from Nitin Joachim and Atkinson’s return to the attack saw Drage caught by Naveen Joachim before Ollie Booth ended the Welby innings by clean bowling Sloss.
In reply, Freiston hit 120-7.
Saeed started aggressively, but was undone by an inswinger from Sloss while Sexton made an attractive 20 before spooning a catch to cover.
Paul (20) and Sunil Panjwani (21) added an important 40 before a key innings from Stewart Kirtley saw Freiston home.
Despite losing three more wickets, Kirtley’s unbeaten 24 led Freiston to victory with more than overs remaining.
Freiston Thirds beat Graves park by 61 runs in the R.P. Smith Friendly League.
The Park were dismissed for 52, thanks largely to an emphatic bowling display by debutant Darren Tate, wjo took six wickets for the loss of three runs in five overs.
Freiston had stuttered to 113 all out, Rizwan Qadir top scoring with 26.
