Boston Cricket Club Firsts are looking to keep their 100 per cent record going in the South Lincs and Border League Premier Division this weekend.
Boston host Grantham Firsts at Rosebery Avenue on Saturday, after recording victories in their opening four contests.
Tom Baxter’s side currently sit level on points with promotion favourites Billingborough and only three points behind leaders Bourne Seconds.
Baxter (pictured) believes team spirit is the key to the club’s tremendous response to last year’s relegation from the Lincs ECB Premier.
“The team on Saturday consisted of 10 players 23 or under,” he said after the Moulton Harrox victory.
“We are probably one of the youngest sides in the league. We’re mates on and off the field and we all want to help each other out.”
On Saturday, Boston gave a first-team debut to teenager Elliot Pogson.
“Poggy has come in and raised the fielding standard,” Baxter added.
“He is willing to get his body in the way, chase balls down to the boundary and save singles in the square.
“He’s fitted in really well.
“He is another sportsman who plays to win on the field but is full of banter off it.
“We will set ourselves high standards and I want everybody to try and reach those standards every game.”
Opener Peter Moore is expected to be unavailable on Saturday, with Matt Poole replacing him.
