A huge Cheer for David's good work

He collected his trophy at the inaugural Aegon British Tennis Awards, in front of a crowd of famous tennis faces which included former British favourites Annabel Croft and Andrew Castle.

The LTA, Tennis Foundation and Aegon launched the awards in 2015 to recognise and celebrate some of the incredible achievements in British Tennis, and to thank the 25,000 volunteers, coaches, clubs, communities and players who give up their time to deliver tennis across the UK.

David, 18, impressed the judges with his incredible dedication to the sport, giving up more than 20 hours a week to help encourage kids to play tennis and improve their game.

As well as studying for his A-Levels and to be a level three coach, David immerses himself in the sport he is not only passionate about, but passionate about sharing with others, through his coaching sessions and squads, as well as captaining numerous teams, running mini tennis leagues and coaches children with learning difficulties.

Speaking at the award ceremony LTA President Cathie Sabin, said: “I’m overwhelmed by David’s passion and commitment to encouraging others to pick up a racket and play the sport we love.

“It’s so important that we acknowledge and celebrate the difference that David and other individuals, clubs and communities make to tennis, and thank them for their efforts in helping us to achieve our mission of more people playing tennis more often.”

David was one of eight winners selected from an impressive field of 1,500 nominations who were recognised and celebrated at the ceremony last week.
