The holders Sue Burnett and Dom Beasley progressed to the semi-final stage where they faced a tough match with Tom Cozens and Victoria Beardsley. But they won through to continue the defence of their 2015 title.

In the other semi, Ashleigh Frankish and Richard Cook were up against Danielle Frankish and Will Mason. Again there was a high standard of tennis, but Will and Danielle won to claim their place in the final.

Will Mason and Danielle Frankish came out on top of an entertaining final to win the title.

Boston men had a great win against Grantham Tennis Club on Sunday in the Aegon Team Tennis Regional Open Midlands East Division. Grantham are currently comfortably at the top of the table, but this victory puts Boston in a strong position.

The team of Lewis Fisher, Will Mason, Steve Wood and Richard Cook stood level after the singles and again after the doubles round.

It all depended upon a tie-break shoot-out, which Boston won for a 7-6 final result.

○ Boston’s 12 and under girls hosted Tipton, who were unbeaten in the Midlands region. The team of Lucy Evans, Alice Gamman, Christie Halton and Stephanie Ainsworth pushed very hard and came close to forcing the opposition to a shoot-out. Alice had a good win at number two singles, but Boston went into the doubles round requiring both rubbers and, although each of the games was close, they were both shared, giving Tipton a 4-2 victory.

○ Boston men’s thirds played the fourths in the Lincolnshire Aegon Team Tennis Division Two and won 5-1, making the thirds the Division Two champions.

The third team was Tom Cozens, Sam Felipes, Ryan Frankish and Toby Collett, while the fourths comprised Sam Khan, David Wookey, Terry Mastin and Carl Stanney.
