Freiston batted first and openers Richard Paul (25) and Waseem Ilyas (35) put on 58 for the first wicket in the face of some challenging deliveries.

Stewart Kirtley (37) and Zeeshan Saeed (29) added 63 as Freiston appeared to be strolling to an imposing total.

That changed as Saeed and Kirtley, and then Mustafa Butt, were dismissed by Appleyard in consecutive balls.

Freiston captain Ollie Booth (30 not out) and Charles Lenton (12) set about rebuilding the innings.

Taimur Mian contributed an important 10 before Booth struck the last ball for four as Freiston posted 200-9.

Freiston’s opening bowlers Tommy Atkinson (2-8) and Taimur Mian (3-31) were in fine form, while Booth added figures of 3-13.

Sean Barnett (31), Tom Appleyard (22) and Steve Appleyard (23) frustrated Freiston’s bowlers, but in the end, Boston were dismissed for 107.

In the Cojo’s East Lindsey League Division One, Freiston LL were beaten by 97 runs at Cleethopes.

The hosts racked up an impressive 212 off their 40 overs.

Ollie Booth was the stand-out Freiston bowler, taking three wickets, but a 78 from Cook provided the back bone of the Cleethorpes innings.

In reply, Freiston started in fine fashion. A quickfire 16 from Mustafa Butt and 20 from Richard Paul had Freiston moving nicely.

Stewart Kirtley made 25 but Freiston finished on 115.
