Boston Cricket Club’s First XI may be sitting pretty at the top of the South Lincs and Border League Premier Division, but captain Tom Baxter believes the title race is far from over.
The Mayflower men sit in pole position following Saturday’s victory over Lindum Seconds.
Leaders Grantham were beaten by Bourne Seconds, their second defeat in as many weeks, leaving Boston seven-points clear.
But with seven matches to play and just one promotion place into the Lincs ECB Premier available, Baxter (pictured) expects the title race is far from over.
He said: “Yes we are top and Grantham have lost their last two, but we still have 140 points to play for until the end of the season.
“I fully expect a couple more twists and turns before the end of September.
“There are no games in this league where you rock up and know you will win.
“If we continue with the right work ethic then we won’t be far away. There can no bad days.”
Boston travel to Woodhall Spa to take on their Seconds on Saturday, a game where Boston will be looking to take maximum points.
However, Baxter is fully aware of their capabilities, adding: “They have won four out of their last six.
“They have really picked up on their game and it is a game that we will need to be ready for.”
