Members of the Zen Black Belt Academy have tasted success at a kickboxing tournament in Peterborough.

Senior Matt Featherstone won his first-ever fight after being drafted in to compete with just 10 minutes’ notice.

Meanwhile, youngster Kobi Barwick showed great technical display in winning two sections.

He came first in both his points and continuous competitions.

Youngsters from the Zen Academy were also handed their first taste of competitive action.

A group of Zen Ninjas - as the younger age group is known - attended the inter-club tournament in Peterborough.

And the members of the Kirton-based club did themselves justice - all coming in top-three positions.

In fact, the only defeats suffered by the Zen Ninjas were to teammates.

For some of the kids - the youngest being just four-years-old - these were their first-ever fights.

The members did well to show off their skills.

Also, to cap off a great day, the Zen Black Belt Academy retained the overall points trophy.

The academy are based at Kirton’s Middlecott Sports Centre, but also hold classes at Boston’s Peter Paine Sports Centre on Tuesdays.
