Will and Ashleigh are champs

Thursday - WILL Mason and Ashleigh Frankish are the Boston Tennis Club Bombay Brasserie Winter Singles League champions.

On Tuesday, the presentation for the winter singles leagues took place in the clubhouse. Will is the overall winner of the Bombay Brasserie Winter Singles League and Ashleigh is the top lady.

The runner-up trophy went to Ray Frankish while Dominic Beesley was named most improved player.

In the junior league the winning boy and girl trophies were collected by Henry Beesley and Madeline Verdegaal while the most improved trophies went to Jack Morrow and Rebecca Beardsley.

In the mini tennis leagues the Bombay Brasserie junior green ball winners are Sam Felipes and Sophie Walsh.

The Orange Ball League saw Sam Fisher and Charlotte Priestley as winning boy and girl with Jack Sill the runner-up.

In the daytime Singles League, Jeremy George-Jones is the overall winner while Sue Beesley won the ladies' section.

The trophy for the leading games scorer in this league was awarded to Rachel Gedney.

l THE Aegon Team Tennis events are nearly completed for this summer.

The mens first team played at Loughborough on Sunday afternoon… where they lost 2-4.

The team comprised Will Mason, Sam Kemp, Stanley Roffe and Lewis Fisher.

The Seconds had a closer match at Kibworth, Leicestershire.

The team of Simon Bush, Alex Cobb, Richard Cook and Ray Frankish lost out in both doubles rounds to go down 2-2 after the sides were level following the singles.

l IN Lincolnshire Doubles League, the ladies third team lost 3-6 to Woodhall Spa in Division Two.

Playing for Boston were Helen Cook, Rachel Atkinson, Rachel Brook, Hilary Calvert, Helen Motson and Elizabeth Hall.

In Division Three, Boston ladies fourth team came through to celebrate a 5-4 win against Sleaford.

The team was Sue Dring, Lyn Capes, Denise Priestley, Helen Motson, Madeline Verdegaal and Elizabeth Hall.

THE Boston and District Mixed League saw Boston Three – Ray Frankish, Helen Cook, Chris Cook, Mary Smura, Mike and Tricia Sweeney – win 7-2 against Boston Two's Phil Cosgriff, Andrea Jackson, Joan Beale, Dominic Beesley, Jenny Grant and Barrie Overton.

Boston Four narrowly lost 4-5 in a close encounter at Heckington.

Playing for the Fourths on this occasion were Maurice Lawrence, Sharron Thorogood, David Matthews, Rachel Bowser, Charles Tupper and Paula Smith.
