The Standard understands that bosses at ITV are looking at broadcasting a series of ‘The Only Way Is Boston’.
A source says TV executives see TOWIB as the natural successor to ITV2 hit ‘scripted reality’ show The Only Way Is Essex.
Bosses are said to be drawn to Boston as a result of the interest in appearances by ‘stars’ of shows such as TOWIE, Geordie Shore and Made In Chelsea at the Assembly Rooms.
It is thought that Joey Essex could film special guest scenes while in the area as the star of Peterborough event Truckfest at the beginning of May.
The source also revealed that bosses are in the process of producing a dance remix of the sound made by the Into Town buses as they pass through the pedestrian part of Boston town centre in order to give the show a ‘local feel’.
TV insider May Dupp said: “I think it’ll work. It’s either that or repeating Midsomer Murders again.”
She added: “It’ll be good for Boston. TOWIE in no way reinforced stereotypes surrounding Essex people so this is bound to paint Bostonians in a good light.”
It is believed that possible cast members have been earmarked for roles in the show and producers have toured the town looking for suitable filming locations.
