Artistic opportunities for all thanks to £2.5 million grant

CREATIVE types in the Boston area could now benefit from a £2.5 million Arts Council grant.

The South Holland and Boston Creative People and Places Arts Consortium bid for the grant with the aim of taking various unique art forms out to the community and villages.

Coun Yvonne Gunter, Boston Borough Council’s portfolio holder for leisure services, said: “For Boston it represents a great chance to expand the arts and the range of opportunities.”

A three-year programme called Transported, built around the theme of transport, will aim to take art to the villages and estates, providing equipment and training to local artists.

One project being looked at is photographic art put on the side of delivery lorries from the area. Other venues could include the library, empty shops and the high street.

A public consultation will be held for local people to have their say about the kind of arts events and opportunities to be brought to the area. The programme is supported by Boston and South Holland district councils along with various Lincolnshire-based organisations and companies.
