THE Lincolnshire Aviation Heritage Centre is set for a starring role in front of millions of television viewers tonight, as the Doctor Who Christmas special airs on BBC One.
The Time Lord’s festive adventure, which is on tonight at 7pm, includes scenes shot at the East Kirkby visitor attraction.
The Lincolnshire-set sections of the story - called The Doctor, The Widow and the Wardrobe - feature comedian Alexander Amrstrong as an RAF pilot in a Lancaster bomber.
Mr Armstrong told Doctor Who Magazine: “Who wouldn’t want to fly a Lancaster Bomber? It was phenomenal!”
He added: “When I made it to the cockpit, I sat down in a sweat. I had to open the window and just look out, otherwise I’d have had a major claustrophobia attack. They’re very tight places.”
