A family has won a dream holiday to the Caribbean after appearing on an ITV prime time quiz show hosted by Dale Winton.

The Pycock family, from Boston, were on Dale’s Great Getaway on December 29 – competing in bizarre challenges including milking a goat and singing opera to win a holiday for four to Barbados.

Hayley Pycock, of Green Lane, took part in the show with her dad Peter and brothers Leon and Alex – competing against the Manlove family and the Smiths.

“Dale Winton was very funny and made lots of innuendoes,” said Hayley, 25. “I definitely felt more competitive than nervous as we are quite a competitive family.”

The Pycocks successfully reached the final round, where despite missing out on a £15,000 cash bonus, they went away with the top holiday prize.

But in an unfortunate twist for Hayley, her commitments as a learning support assistant at the Giles Academy, means she can’t go to Barbados.

“I was so excited about going, but when they handed us the details I realised the dates available were all during school time,” she said. “I took the job knowing I can’t take term time off so I’ve not even asked for it.”

Her mum Debra will take her place.

She added: “I don’t feel too bad as mum really deserves to go as she’s worked hard all her life and is just the most selfless person. But I will be gutted to see them all fly off without me.”
