Descendants of the man chosen by the Puritans as the first Governor of Boston America came to visit a new attraction at Boston Stump.

John Winthrop and John Winthrop Sears – both descendants of governor John Winthrop – came over with a group of Americans, led by Robert Charles Anderson, director of the Great Migration Study Project based in Boston, Massachusetts.

Many of the group members are descendants of the Puritans who have been commemorated in the Puritan Path at the church. The Puritans sailed as part of the ‘Winthrop Fleet’ and founded a new colony in the Massachusetts Bay.

The visitors are pictured by the ‘vision stone’ at the Stump’s Puritan Path which quotes from Governor Winthrop’s sermon, A Model of Christian Charity preached on board the Arbella in 1630.
