  • Sutton Bridge and Donington looking for countywide recognition again

The search is on for Lincolnshire’s most outstanding citizens, with South Holland bidding for a double celebration yet again.

People across the county can nominate members of their community who have gone the extra mile to help others where they live.

There are four award categories, Citizen of the Year, Young Citizen of the Year, Community Group and the “Dynamic Duo” award for a couple or pair.

Coun William Webb, chairman of Lincolnshire County Council and member for Holbeach Rural, said: “Throughout the county we have a number of people who go above and beyond to help their communities.

“The winners of last year’s Good Citizens Awards were great examples of people who give their time and effort to help others.

“Hopefully, it will inspire more people to do the same.”

Last year’s winners included Jenny and Tom Rowe of Sutton Bridge whose charity work and involvement with South Lincs Environmental Group saw them named the Couple/Pair of the Year.

Donington youth group Flinders Founders took home the Community Group award for raising about £185,000 inside ten years towards a teen park it runs.

The winners and guests will be invited to this summer’s Lincolnshire Show where they will be presented with a framed certificate commemorating their achievement.

For more information about the awards, visit www.lincolnshire.gov.uk/goodcitizensaward or call 01522 554966.

The closing date for entries is Friday, April 22.
