Families are invited to celebrate the festive season in song at a special church service in Boston this evening (Wednesday).

St Botolph’s Church, commonly known as The Stump, is to hold a family carol service from 7pm.

The event, which is being held with the support of Lovers of Boston Stump, will feature traditional hymns and carols.

Drinks and nibbles will follow the service.

‘Sing your hearts out’ is the message from those behind the event.

Last week, The Stump hosted another carol service, this time in partnership with Lincolnshire Co-operative.

The event, held on Wednesday, featured performances by Resdev Market Rasen Band, the Choir of St Botolph’s and Staniland Primary Academy.

It raised just short of £250 for Lincolnshire Co-operative’s charity of the year, Alzheimer’s Society, from retiring collections.

Member engagement manager Richard Whittaker said: “We were delighted to hold our first carol concert of 2015 at Boston Stump which is such a stunning venue and perfect for this kind of event.

“We received a very warm welcome from the team and our staff and members
thoroughly enjoyed the occasion.”

He added: “It’s great to see the church thriving a year on from the terrible floods which devastated the building last December.”
