A Knight of country kicks off new season

SPEND a Knight at a community centre this week as it welcomes country performers of all types.

Old Leake Country Music Club kicks off its new season on Sunday with performances by local band Country Knights and Dearham-based JC King.

Country Knights have been circulating the country for around three-years now playing as mix of country covers and their own original songs.

The band consists of former Dave Clarke Five member Ron Ryan on guitar and lead singer, Reg Stratton on drums, Les Wright on lead guitar, pedal steel and vocals and Sue Wright on bass guitar and vocals.

There is 50 years experience in the country music scene between them and the band have performed at Heckington, Market Deeping and will be performing at Blackfriars Theatre in the future.

Their songs include Lets Turn Back the Years, Kinda Blue, Someone and Hard Road.

The well-known country star John C. King started singing at the age of 11 in Ireland.

He is a long-time country music artist featuring in a number of genre-specific magazines and performing up and down the country.

His songs include The Lord Made A Hobo Out Of Me, That’s How I Measure My Love and I’ve Already Cheated On You

The show at Old Leake Community Centre starts at 2pm and includes free tea and biscuits. Tickets cost £6.
