An award-winning pianist is to return to Swineshead’s Windmill Studio Concerts on Friday, and he’s bringing a prize-winning oboe player with him.
Florian Mitrea has performed at the gigs at Swineshead Village Hall, on a number of occasions now.
Born in Bucharest, Romania, in 1989, he started studying piano at the age of six.
He has been taught at the Royal Academy of Music and has won several competitions including the Vianna International Piano Competition, Panmusica Austria, Beethoven Senior Intercollegiate Piano Competition and the Sheepdrove Intercollegiate Piano Competition.
He has performed all over the world and has been broadcast on radio and television.
He will be performing with oboe player Hannah Morgan, who also studies at the Royal Academy of Music.
She has been principal oboe of the National Youth Orchestra and worked with a number of highly professional players.
Hannah has recorded a CD with the Royal Academy Orchestra and has played with Julliard School students.
She has performed at a variety of venues including Wigmore Hall, New York, and the Royal Albert Hall – part of the 2012 BBC Proms Season.
The pair promise an enjoyable and varied programme with music ranging from Beethoven, Vivaldi and Saint-Saens to other favourites including Gabriel’s oboe theme from the 1986 film The Mission and other musical-theatre songs.
The concert starts at 7.30pm at the village hall.
Tickets are £12 for adults with children free.
