A CLASSIC rock band from the Boston area has said it has gone from strength to strength and performed all around Lincolnshire since it was formed in 2008.

Four-piece Jam Jar’s current line-up consists of lead guitarist and vocalist John Gamage, rhythm guitarist and backing vocalist Gary Tytheridge, drummer Alex Rose plus a number of bassists on standby to fulfil bookings including Overdrives’ Ian Hamilton.

With 30 years of experience, John had played in many bands in Oxfordshire before moving to the county and Gary learned guitar at school but had to put it on hold until six years ago. Youngest member Alex, 17, is self-taught, but is a driving force of the band – with influences including The Sweet to Led Zeppelin.

Ian will be going on tour to Italy later this year and the band said it was an honour to play with someone with ‘such skill and musical knowledge’.

Jam Jar were due to play on Saturday, but due to the weather, will now be performing at the Thatched Cottage, at Sutterton, on Saturday, May 26 and Saturday, June 2. Entry is free.
