Curtain Up at Blackfriars Theatre

Celebrate the best of British with Blackfriars Theatre Academy and Dance Academy and their show Curtain Up tonight (Thursday) and Friday.

Curtain Up has been written with inspiration from all walks of British culture and the students from both groups have been getting busy with rehearsals for the show.

The two groups have combined all their skills to bring the performance about the backstage activities of a West End show to life.

The play tells the story of the ‘drama, blood, sweat and tears’ involved.

Featuring several references to the London Olympics and the Diamond Jubilee , the show is set to feature great British music, such as Gold by Spandau Ballet, Queen’s Don’t Stop Me Now and Sing by Gary Barlow and the Commonwealth band.

A spokesman for Polka Dot, the theatre company behind the classes, said the cast of local youngsters are really enjoying working together in preparation for their annual Christmas production.

Company Director Darren Maddison commented: “Rehearsals are going really well, putting on a show like this is a great way for our students to build confidence and make lots of new friends.

“We really hope that the local community will support us again by coming to see this show, the children really throw all their effort into our productions and they love nothing more than to be rewarded by showcasing their efforts to family, friends and the local community in Boston!

Performances take place at Blackfriars at 7pm on both nights.
