Step back in time with an opportunity to try vintage treats and view the ‘grandest house in Boston’ at the end of the month.
Organisers of a summer afternoon event at Fydell House on Saturday, August 31, from 11am-4pm say they are aiming to bring the feel of The Savoy to the town.
The vintage-themed afternoon tea and garden party will take place in the stately surroundings the house, with an opportunity to view Fydell House and its beautiful hidden garden.
The event is being organised by Wormgate’s Cake Lady Rebecca Callow, who has a fascination with the lifestyle of the 1930s and 1940s.
There will be savoury and ‘naughty-but-nice’ sweet treats on offer, washed down with plenty of tea and served on crockery from the period supplied by Tracy Shaw from Ivy’s Vintage Hire, of Frampton West.
There will also be a Pimms tent with other refreshments also available and a traditional ‘stop me and buy one’ ice cream tricycle will be doing the rounds.
Entertainment will come from Boston-based jazz quartet Blue in Green, dancing displays from Boston’s AJ Dance and music from a banjo player who performs with a live parrot on his shoulder.
There will be a selection of craft stalls featuring sewing and embroidery and jewellery, animal arts, face painting, croquet, giant jenga and a petting zoo and a photographer with a supply of period clothing.
Entry £2, £1 for those aged 12 and under and free for those aged five and under. Afternoon tea will be £8.50 and £3.50. To book call 07595 912457 or 07840 400682.
