Walter Cornelius, the world’s strongest man, displayed his amazing strength by lifting up 10-stone Ian Jackson, of Kirton, with one hand in 1970.

Ian was in a crowd of shoppers who watched Mr Cornelius give a demonstration to mark the opening of the Budget Bargain store, in High Street, Boston.

The strong man, who was born in Scandinavia, came to the UK in 1934.

He featured this week in 1970 on the BBC’s Blue Peter programme.
