Poetic performances from Year Seven pupils at Skegness Academy help celebrated World Poetry Day 10 years ago and its theme of ‘home is where the heart is’.

Youngsters honed their literary skills through reading and writing, before taking to the stage to showcase their achievements.

A literacy specialist from Nottingham Academy Mike Hamlin joined in with the celebrations with a reading of some poetry based on the senses and detecting places through smell.

Some of the students also read their favourite poems such as The Lion and Albert and Matilda.
