EXPECT the unexpected at Blackfriars Theatre on Sunday with some twisted family stories.

The Spain Lane venue will be hosting Fairy Tales of The Unexpected at 2pm and 4pm.

The show gives classic fairy tales a modern twist which producers say is aimed at children from three upwards with more than enough tongue in cheek content to keep the adults and older children involved.

Writer and director Tom Beard said: “Think Shrek, Roald Dahl and a sprinkling of The Muppet Show and you get the idea of what we are trying to do.

“We aim to deliver new and exciting children’s shows that mix traditional themes with a fresh feel to encourage existing and new audiences to come to the wonderful world of theatre.

“Gaining new experiences as a child is so essential. I think watching a theatre show is the ultimate in 3D, and so exciting.

“Interaction for young people is very important. TV can take away the childlike curiosity, which is so special and our show is certainly interactive and also we like to think that a child can learn a lot from our shows too!”

During the show six stories, including Goldilocks, The Three Little Pigs, The Gingerbread Man and Little Red Riding Hoody are performed at a zippy pace.

It will feature big and bright costumes with a full set and crazy props, and boasts lots of live action, singing, and maybe even a custard pie or two!

The show costs £10.
