Older people in Boston can kick off the New Year by taking the first step to a more active lifestyle via a new free course of exercise taster sessions.
Lincolnshire Community and Voluntary Service (LCVS) health trainers are offering the next in the programme of Boston Big Local-funded Stay Active courses, beginning on January 15, at Centenary Methodist Church.
Jan Gould-Martin, from LCVS said: “The New Year is the perfect time to commit to making a lifestyle change. The sessions offer the chance to try out a variety of new activities in a fun, friendly environment.”
Activities on offer may include yoga, aerobic exercise, country dancing, tai chi, seated exercise, New Age Kurling and health walks. In addition there will be talks on subjects affecting the older generation.
David Fannin, LCVS chief executive, said: “Volunteering is a fantastic way for older people to use their existing skills or indulge a passion whilst making a valued contribution.”
Each Stay Active programme consists of four two-hour weekly sessions. Sessions include a chance for a cup of tea and a chat.
