In the run-up to the new academic year in 1989, Marks & Spencer, in Boston, held a fashion show to promote its expanded selection of school uniforms.
The business had adopted ‘quality service’ as its theme that year and decided to offer a wider range of uniforms in the spirit of this motto.
Hundreds of parents turned out to attend the event.
Local parent teacher associations benefitted from the event
10 PTAs sold tickets printed free by the store and got to keep the profits.
The store was assisted by a number of businesses in the event.
