A call (or cry) has gone out from Sleaford’s Town Crier to support a fundraiser being held in aid of a mental health charity.

John Griffiths is inviting people to back the Loyal Company of Town Criers (LCTC) as it works to raise money for Shout.

“Set up by The Royal Foundation, help and advice is available 24/7 but they need extra funds to recruit more volunteers,” Mr Griffiths said.

The LCTC has set up a page on Facebook for supporters to make donations to the cause.

It comes as part of its plans to hold a virtual alternative to its annual town crier competition as a result of the coronavirus pandemic.

Town criers are being asked to make donations to enter, with all proceeds going to Shout.

The virtual competition is being held to coincide with Mental Health Awareness Week, which this year runs from May 10-16.
