A moving story at Theatre Royal

A COMEDY featuring several television stars is to visit Lincoln’s Theatre Royal this week.

Five Blue Haired Ladies Sitting on a Green park Bench is a comedy by John A Penzotti, which opens at the Clasketgate venue from tomorrow (Thursday) until Saturday.

It will star Anne Charleston (Madge Bishop in Neighbours) as Rose, Lorraine Chase (Stephanie Stokes in Emmerdale) as Eva, Shirley Anne Field (film actress) as Anna, Anita Harris (award winning recording artist and actress) as Gladys, Chris Beeny (TV’s Upstairs, Downstairs, In Loving Memory, Last Of The Summer Wine) as Nunzio, Frazer Hines (Joe Sugden in Emmerdale Farm) as Richard and Tom Owen (Last of the Summer Wine) as Marvin.

The show promises to be a hilarious and moving story of five women guaranteed to make you laugh and cry.

Anna, Eva, Rose, Gladys and La La (Nicola Blackman) had only two things in common when they met seven months ago: a park bench and a life well-lived.

Through fond and sometimes painful memories, keen observations and a good belly laugh, these gals are truly on the cusp of 60 something going on 18.

Bound by each other’s strengths, wisdom and witticisms, each one unwittingly prepares for the day they leave the bench, perhaps for the last time.

As the journey unfolds, it’s those bonds that ensure, at least for these fearless five, that the grim reaper is not so grim after all.

Shows start at 7.30pm with a 2pm matinee on Saturday. Tickets £18.50. To book call 01522 519999.
