A Boston salon’s investment in their staff has paid off after one of their apprentices received an award recently.

Salon Alchemy apprentice, Holly Raggo is in her final few months of her hairdressing NVQ and was recently awarded by Boston College as Apprentice of the Year.

Salon boss Kelly Varley praised Holly saying she takes every task on fully.

She said: “Holly had a difficult start to her training as she joined the group much later than the other students and had to work hard in her on time to catch up.

“Her father has been very Ill and she has remained the ultimate professional during her time in the salon without sometimes even sharing with her peers how tough things were for her.”

Holly is a senior apprentice and manages the reservations area on two busy days per week which Mrs Varley said ‘goes over and above her expected job role’.

Holly received the award at an event at the Sam Newsom Centre where all students were encouraged to take part in a catwalk show with models they had prepared throughout the day.

Salon Alchemy work very closely alongside the college and owner Rocco, a global educator for hair care company Paul Mitchell, is often invited in to educate the students on advanced cutting techniques.

Rocco and partner Kelly have recently re-invested into the salon, on the second floor of Oldrids and given it a completely new look including a niche ‘Man Pad’ just for men.
