Bassetlaw: More cuts to bus services across county in Council bid to save £200k

A range of significant changes to local bus services which are funded by Notts County Council come into force on Monday 4th August.

The changes are being made as a result of a reduction of £1.8 million in the local bus budget which, in turn, is part of the overall £154 million budget savings the council needs to make over the next three years.

Changes to bus routes will be as follows in the Bassetlaw area:

Service 8 ,the current off peak service between Kilton and Sainsburys, operated by TM Travel, will cease.

A replacement service numbered 108 and operated by NCC fleet vehicles will be introduced covering all points currently served by Service 8 and to a slightly enhanced timetable.

Services 27a/30 and 30a will be withdrawn- a new service numbered 127 will operate on a Monday to Friday to a basic hourly frequency giving a direct link between Harworth, Sandrock Road and Bawtry with extensions to Misson or Mattersey Thorpe. Services 34/44/83 will be withdrawn.

Services 89 and 90 will be withdrawn and replaced by a new service 190 which will be provided by Gem Mini Coaches. Peak time journeys will operate to a fixed timetable.

Service 95a, the current peak time service operated by TM Travel will be re-numbered 195 and provided by Gem Mini Travel.

Service 9, the current service provided by Stagecoach will be revised to operate every two hours. The new service will be re-numbered 209 and will operate the current Service 9 route between Worksop and Warsop.

The council said it would still be spending £4 million a year on supporting bus services to communities that were not served by commercial bus networks.

Coun Kevin Greaves, chairman of the transport and highways committee at Notts County Council, said: “We have had to make some difficult decisions.”

“But the overall savings to the council are somewhere in the region of £200,000.”
