Boston blogger launches charity anthology

AN AWARD-winning blogger from Boston is hoping to help disadvantaged children everywhere with a new anthology.

Little Acorns features a wide range of original work selected and edited by Tim Atkinson, who this year was crowned Blogger of the Year and Best Blog Writer at the MAD Blog Awards.

The pieces were all inspired by a free online creative writing course Tim ran earlier in 2010.

“It attracted a lot of interest, with over 100 people registering and many more following the lessons informally,” said Tim. “Inspired by some of the exercises, the budding authors all wrote and submitted pieces for an end-of-course charity anthology. The best pieces were then selected for publication and Tiny Acorns was born.”

All the profits go to this year’s Children’s in Need appeal and the entire creative writing course has also been included.

“Ranging from flash-fiction to more traditional short-stories, life-writing, humour, poetry and autobiography there’s something in the book for everyone,” he said.

It is available for £8.99 from Dotterel Press or from Tim’s blog (
