A plucky fundraiser is responding to the plight of the town’s homeless charity - by leaping head first off a 175ft-high platform.
Mandy Warren, of Sleaford Road, Boston, is taking part in a sponsored bungee jump on Monday to raise money for Centrepoint Outreach.
The 24-year-old decided to leap into action to help the charity after she saw an article in The Standard on their plight for donations towards food parcels distibuted to the needy.
“I did the Humber Walk for Christian Aid a couple of months ago but I’ve never done anything like this before,” she said. “I’m slightly scared about the height but when I get to the top I will just think ‘it’s for charity’ so I have to do it, no backing out.”
Mandy says all her fundraising efforts will now be for Centrepoint Outreach.
“Once I’ve done the bungee jump I want to try and do a wing walk on top of a plane, and a mountain climb - maybe Kilimanjaro,” she said. “Then maybe when I’m a bit fitter I’d like to tackle the Lands End to John O’Groats cycle.”
The bungee jump costs £50 but Mandy has paid for this herself so all the money raised goes straight to Centrepoint.
“I am aiming to raise as much as possible to help Centrepoint continue continue all the good work they do.”
The bungee jump takes place at a fun day held in Billingborough, near Sleaford.
To sponsor Mandy you can pick up forms at Centrepoint Outreach in Red Lion Street, at Brian’s Chippy in Queen Street or by calling 07938 664126.
