Boston craft market cancelled due to fears of high winds

The fortnightly Boston craft market due to be held tomorrow (Thursday) has been cancelled over fears of high winds.

A spokesman for Boston Borough Council said that due to MET office warnings of 50-60mph winds in the area and the nature of the tents there were fears the tents could ‘disappear over the Stump’.

Ian Martin, the council’s senior economic development officer, said: “We have had the MET office forecast 50-60mph gales for the area tomorrow and because of the nature of the craft market stalls (basically that their open fronted tents), we have taken the decision to cancel the market on safety grounds.

“We have contacted the traders and they are all in agreement with the decision.”
