FA Cup shocks help net Boston punter £16k win

Bradford City may have shocked the football world with an incredible FA Cup win at Chelsea on Saturday but their victory also brought big cheers for one Boston punter - helping him to net a £16k win from a £2 bet.

The man, who placed the bet at a Coral shop in the town, scooped £16,380 for the bet which correctly predicted seven results including those of Bradford and Leicester City in the cup, as well as Brentford’s impressive victory in the Championship away at Norwich City.

In Ashford, Kent, a Coral punter landed £13,699 for a £2 five-fold where Bradford, Middlesbrough, Leicester and Crystal Palace were on their slip, while in Weymouth, Dorset, a customer scooped £10,920 for a £2 five-fold.

Coral’s John Hill said: “We really have to tip our hats off to these three visionary customers as they went against the grain this weekend by predicting these FA Cup upsets to all pick up over £10,000 for just a £2 bet.

“Overall though, Britain’s bookmakers were rejoicing the results on Saturday. Coral were left with their best single day figures on the FA Cup, all of which came a week after their worst weekend in history on football where the industry lost well in excess of £40 million after all 12 of the most popular selections won on the same day.”

League One Bradford were 20-1 to upset the Premier League leaders on Saturday but, despite going two goals down, won 4-2.
