A GALLERY in Boston town centre is set to close for ‘financial reasons’.
The Giles 52 Gallery in Wide Bargate has operated in the town for the past two years, offering artists and artisans the chance to exhibit and sell their work, but the Giles Academy now says that ‘with much regret’ it will have to close.
The venue also encouraged people to take part in arts activities, led by Giles Academy’s Community Arts Officer Lesley Withers.
Giles Academy Director of Arts Gary Wright said: “The gallery is closing purely because of financial reasons.
“A change in Government funding, together with a recent rise in the costs of the running of the gallery has resulted in the Academy taking this difficult decision.”
The project earned an enterprise award for its success.
Mr Wright thanked Boston Borough Council, South Lincolnshire Community Volunteer Association, Age UK and the Phoenix Healthcare Trust for their help with the project.
