Plans lodged for hotel

A DEVELOPER plans to revamp a former farm on the edge of Boston and transform it into a new hotel.

A plan has been lodged with Boston Borough Council to develop the old Phoenix Poultry Farm in Swineshead Road, Wyberton Fen by Mr and Mrs S Bramley.

A design statement drawn up by architect Robert Lowe states that the site, set between the A52 and New Hammond Beck Road, could accommodate a hotel of about 60 bedrooms with car parking to match.

The document states: “The site is redundant in its former use as battery sheds - this was abandoned some years ago.

“The buildings are in very poor condition and would not, even if sound, meet current requirements for poultry houses. The house is derelict.”

The developer says that the hotel will address a shortfall in accomodation available for Boston.

The planning documents say the site is not geared to providing major catering, but points to the fact that the Hammer and Pincers pub and Tesco and Downtown cafes are nearby.

There is thought to have already been interest from hotel/motel operators in the site given that it is on a major route.
