Pupils from Boston West Academy are holding a special farmers’ market tomorrow (Thursday) to help raise funds to develop their allotment area.

The market will be held from 2.30-4.30pm in the school hall, with all welcome.

Pupils and staff will be selling products made by themselves, such as salt dough keyrings, gingerbread Christmas decorations and home-made bird feeders, along with local farm producers selling their own wares.

There will also be a
raffle and refreshments available.

Growing ‘their own’ and learning outdoors are important aspects of education at Boston
West, in in Sussex Avenue.

In September, ‘The Hive – Centre for Learning Beyond the Classroom’ was completed at the school. This modern, self-contained building provides a base for the children’s outdoor learning and a teacher training and small conference/meeting venue.

In front of The Hive a Garden of Inspiration is being developed. On one side of the garden there will be a wildflower meadow, with the allotments, plastic bottle greenhouse, polytunnel
and small orchard on the other.
