STAFF at Boston Borough Council were thanked for turning up to work today (Wednesday) by their leader and chief executive.
Council leader Peter Bedford issued a thank you to staff at the start of this morning’s cabinet meeting, after the authority revealed all of its bin collections and services have gone ahead as normal.
Coun Bedford said: “I want to say thank you to all the staff for coming in this morning and resisting the temptation to strike.
“It shows that staff at Boston Borough Council are dedicated to their cause and I would thank all of you for that.”
Council chief executive Richard Harbord said he made a special effort to go in to the council building through the front door to walk through the pickets.
However, he said, there were none.
He added that there were pockets of industrial action but that it was not effecting the running of the authority “in any way shape or form”.
He commented: “I am pleased that against national odds we shall be collecting refuse today.”
